Wicked good gift wrappin’

My very special little friend Jack recently had his very special 5th birthday. Being the good little Beantown rugrat that he is, he opted for a Bruins Party this year. So out came the black and gold, complete with a mini Stanley Cup replica.

and the crowd goes wild.... Jack's 5

Chihuly at the MFA

Chihuly, through the looking glass

The first time I saw Dale Chihuly’s work was in Las Vegas at the Bellagio a few years ago with my husband and that gorgeous lobby has forever left an impression with me. It was such a treat to see his work at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston where we were able to experience his stunning glass sculptures with some out-of-town guests back in July. I would venture to say that this was a definite highlight during their busy stay. Here are some photos I snapped, prepare to be blown away: 😉

No bull about it!

This past week I was off to NYC  for some interesting meetings. One of which was at the studio of French Bull, one of our favorite licenses. It’s always so great to see where other creatives work and I am always envious of the great spaces New Yorkers inhabit.

Think Pink: Flirty at Thirty

One of my friends, Kristen, recently turned the big 3-0 and I wanted to share some great party ideas that her friends and I used to make her surprise party a hit!  The theme was pink, in case you couldn’t tell, and we tried to incorporate the color into everything we did, pink cake, pink drinks, pink flowers, pink decos.  An easy thing to do is wrap mason jars in a ribbon that fits your theme, fill the mason jars with a candle or use them to hold straws, swizzle sticks, cutlery, etc.  For favors, we ordered custom fortune cookies and put them inside pink chevron (so trendy right now) striped bags.

Create your own Christmas Town display: Festive Door

In the last installment of our Christmas Town Feature, we made a Gift Wrap Wreath. Your wreath needs a place to hang, so now we’ll make the door!

When planning a holiday display for this year’s stationery show, I was thinking about that feeling you get when walking through a festive city neighborhood, where each doorfront is full of Christmas spirit. I love the look of vintage architecture and some of the ornate entrances that you can find in historic cities like Boston, and was inspired by some of these facades:

wednesday what-nots: Button Up

Lately I am totally loving anything that has a large button or many buttons on it. I’d love to add the vintage button ring to my unique collection of big rings.

wednesday what-nots: bananas for banners

I ‘m sure everyone by now has seen a banner or two around, it is one of the hottest decorating trends rights now, and they are everywhere!

One of the great things about these is that the options are endless, a birthday party, a new baby, a wedding or shower, even Christmas and Halloween, they have become the must have party accessory. They are also popping up in room decor, so cute for a baby or kids room! I love the more handmade looking ones, and I know Aimee made some for her wedding to decorate the boat, can’t wait to see!… I’ll  have to post some wedding pics next week.

wednesday what-nots: mad for plaid

As all the fall catalogs are starting to fill up my mailbox I am noticing a great range of oversized plaid prints coming to market. As much as I despise the cold days that are ahead I am not hating the thought of wearing one of these cute plaid pieces. I am also quite sure I can find the perfect spot for this Designers Guild chair! Just loving it!
